CiteSeerX - Document Details (Isaac Councill, Lee Giles, Pradeep Teregowda): Abstract. Since , the SLAC 3-km linac has operated exclusively with polarized electrons. The polarized electron source is highly reliable, remotely operated and monitored, and able to produce a variety of electron bunch profiles for high-energy physics experiments. He is also Deputy Head of the High-Energy Physics Department at the Institute. His interests are polarized gas targets, cryogenic targets, ions, and atomic beams. He is a spokesperson for the MuSun collaboration (PSI, Switzerland) and a member of the PolFusion collaboration.

The second part of the book presents the description of the essential polarization experiments including the recent ones. This part is devoted to the innovative instrumentations, gives the parameters of the polarized beams, targets, polarized gas jets and polarimeters.   Although the hadron physics program has been officially terminated [], various experimental activities are underway at the COSY storage ring of Forschungszentrum s the feasibility studies related to the search for electric dipole moments [], low-energy spin-physics experiments employing polarized beam and targets appear as an Author: P. Lenisa, F. Rathmann, L. Barion, S. Barsov, S. Bertelli, V. Carassiti, G. Ciullo, M. Contalbrigo.

Polarized positrons at your service. A new technique produces a beam of polarized positrons by starting with an electron beam having lower energy than previous methods. A polarized electron beam hits a target, producing polarized gamma rays that generate positron-electron pairs. 1. Introduction. The first polarized targets used in experiments of particle physics, made use of a dynamic nuclear polarization (DNP) method which allowed to achieve useful positive and negative proton polarizations by RF saturation of forbidden transitions of nuclei in dipolar coupling with neighbouring electron spins. All polarized solid targets since then, except the HD targets Cited by:

These concepts make it possible to optimize a high-energy accelerator for storing highly polarized beams.

It is shown that this field gives rise to an adiabatic invariant of spin-orbit motion and that it defines the maximum time average polarization available to a particle physics experiment. nuclear polarization (DNP) that led to the development of the first polarized proton targets for.
